If you plan to make a charitable gift by will, please think it through carefully. Then, meet with your attorney to discuss and update your will. Tell him or her exactly what you want to do. Be as clear as possible in describing what you want given to whom.
How to Create a Bequest for BroMenn Foundation
Your will is a legal document, and it should be drafted and amended by an attorney. The BroMenn Foundation staff and its Planned Gifts Committee are available to work with you and your attorney to draft a bequest that will fit your situation, satisfy your goals, and meet the hospital's needs.
Listed below are several types of bequests that should fit your charitable goals. Whatever program or medical-specific area(s) you wish to support through deferred giving, it's essential that all correspondence, legal documents and distributions use the full legal corporate name: BroMenn Foundation.
Suggested Language for a Will or Trust Bequest
Specific language to be incorporated into your estate planning document(s) could be as follows *.
"I give and bequeath __________% of my residuary estate to BroMenn Foundation, an Illinois non-profit healthcare organization, to be used by it for its general purposes."
OR
"I give and bequeath __________% of my residuary estate to BroMenn Foundation. Specifically this bequest shall be used to support ________________ or ______________Fund."
OR
"I give and bequeath $_____________to BroMenn Foundation, to be used by it for its general purposes.
OR
"I give and bequeath to BroMenn Foundation all of my interest in the following described property_____________________________________________.
* To maximize the available tax benefits of your charitable bequest, you may want to consider using a statement such as the following in conjunction with the language set forth above:
"I instruct that all of my charitable gifts, bequests and devises shall be made, to the extent possible, from property that constitutes 'income in respect of a decedent' as that term is defined in the Internal Revenue Code."
