BroMenn Healthcare Chaplaincy
When faced with times of stress, illness and crisis, people often draw closer to their spiritual side. Chaplains provide an important service in a healthcare environment as they work to support the spiritual needs of patients, family members and care team members alike. Chaplains are available at all times of the day or night for concerns or prayer.
Crisis, Grief & Hospice Ministries
Crisis ministry provides spiritual support to people facing traumas, a major decision, shocking news or illness. Chaplains help people face the crisis so that they can respond to it in positive and constructive ways. Listening, clarifying, and offering the resources of faith are an important part of crisis ministry.
When a loss occurs in people's lives, whether by death or in some other form, grief follows. Chaplains offer spiritual support to those who are grieving, so that their grieving may lead to healing, rather than despair or disability. Affirming the value and validity of grieving losses is essential in grief ministry.
Hospice ministry provides spiritual support to people who are experiencing the dying process, the event of death, or the bereavement and grief that follows death. Most of this ministry takes place in the homes of patients and families.
Children's Ministry
Using games, toys and puppets, chaplains help children work through the feelings they experience about their hospital stay. The love and care the child experiences helps to teach the child that God is loving and caring. Chaplains are available to help children throughout the hospital who may be experiencing a very sick or dying family member.
Chapel & Chapel Garden
Those looking for a quiet place to pray or meditate can visit the Chapel and its adjacent Chapel Garden at BroMenn Regional Medical Center. The Chapel is open 24 hours a day and is located on the first floor, down the hall from Administration.
Access to the Garden is available through the Chapel, until 8:30 p.m. nightly. Brief chapel services are held weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 - 12:45 p.m. Sunday morning services are held from 11:30 a.m. - noon. Special holiday services are also conducted throughout the year.
The Chapel at Eureka Community Hospital is open 24 hours a day and is located on the first floor, at the north end of the building.
Sacraments
Chaplains are available to either offer sacraments, such as communion and sacrament of the sick, or to make arrangements for the patient or family's own minister to bring such sacraments.
Prayer Line
The Prayer Line is a 3-5 minute recorded meditation service offered by the BroMenn chaplains. The line can be accessed in the hospital by calling extension 2210 or from outside the hospital by calling (309) 268-2210. A new non-denominational meditation is recorded daily.
Spirituality & Health Channel
The Spirituality & Health Channel airs on channel 18 on televisions in BroMenn Regional Medical Center. The channel features multi-faith programming that runs for 72 hours straight, then repeats. Services in the Medical Center's Chapel are also broadcast live on the channel.
