Quality Reporting

For well over 100 years, entities within the BroMenn Healthcare System have been touching the lives of those living in central Illinois. While advances in technology have greatly changed how we treat various conditions, the personal attention provided our patients, and our commitment to quality care and patient safety have remained constant.   Whether it is clinical care and medical services, or support staff and facilities management, every member of the BroMenn Healthcare family plays an important role in promoting excellence in caring and service.

Over the next few years, there will be an expanded effort to increase consumer knowledge about hospitals and healthcare organizations in an attempt to aid consumers in making better informed healthcare decisions.  BroMenn Healthcare supports this effort and is pleased to provide this report noting BroMenn’s performance on a number of nationally recognized quality indicators and practices.

More detailed information regarding each available indicator, including an explanation of abbreviations and descriptions of the indicator significance, may be found within the Quality Measure Definitions pages. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and our Quality Report Disclaimer are also available.

Our Rating  – Hospital performance is evaluated in relationship to the performance of other hospitals nationally and regionally.

This site uses bar graphs to provide the comparative data.  By placing your pointer on each bar in the graph, current ratings are displayed.  A ^ symbol is used to indicate when our ratings are better than the national average.  When comparative data using the same data collection process is not available, this fact is noted.

The bar graphs change as individual measures are selected in the selection box beneath the graph.  At the bottom of each page, a brief comment is provided to assist with the interpretation of the data.  You may also wish to consult the Frequently Asked Questions page for assistance in understanding this report.

National Average – Performance for the average hospital in the United States using the same data collection process.

State Average – Performance for the average hospital in the state of Illinois using the same data collection process.

Risk–Adjustment – Risk adjustment takes into account differences in patient and procedure risk factors, making comparisons more meaningful.  It allows for comparison of actual performance with predicted performance, based on the average hospital in the United States.
