Neurosurgery Resident Research

Through the Central Illinois Neuroscience Foundation, residents can develop and conduct clinical studies with the guidance and collaboration of highly experienced investigators and personnel, dedicated to quality research.

Research Opportunities

Through this research program, residents are trained in all areas of clinical research, beginning with training in the protection of study volunteers (ethical considerations) then moving forward to protocol development, proper informed consent, IRB review processes, and study conduct.

Other opportunities for basic neuroscience research also exist, as residents have full access to the stroke laboratory at Illinois State University. This residency program recently welcomed ChenXu Wang, M.D., Ph.D. as the director of pre-clinical research (CINF) as well as advisor for basic science investigations at Illinois State University. Dr. Wang has extensive experience in supervising trainees, including post-doctoral fellows, technicians, and graduate students. His current investigations include mechanisms and therapeutic strategies in ischemic brain injury.
