Electrophysiologist Joins illinois Heart & Lung Associates
March 23, 2007 - Mumtaz A. Siddiqui, MD, a cardiologist, has recently joined the medical staff at Illinois Heart & Lung Associates (IHLA) of Normal and Pontiac, an affiliate of the BroMenn Healthcare system.
Dr. Siddiqui specializes in Electrophysiology, and is the first full-time electrophysiologist in the Bloomington-Normal area. Electrophysiology is a branch of cardiovascular medicine that deals with diagnosis and treatment of problems with the heart’s rhythm. Dr. Siddiqui's practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias (supraventricular and ventricular), syncope (fainting) and device therapy (pacemakers and defibrillators).
Dr. Siddiqui most recently practiced at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago. He completed a Fellowship in Electrophysiology at Wake Forest University in 2005. He is board certified in several areas, including Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiovascular Diseases, as well as Geriatric Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Siddiqui is well-published in his field.
Illinois Heart & Lung Associates has offices in Normal and in Pontiac. Dr. Siddiqui will also have hospital privileges at BroMenn Healthcare, OSF St. Joseph, and OSF St. James facilities, along with his IHLA cardiology colleagues.
