BroMenn Named to 'Most Wired' List
The BroMenn Healthcare System was recently named in the "Most Improved" category for Hospitals & Health Networks magazine's 2008 "Most Wired" survey .

Hospital & Health Networks, the journal of the American Hospital Association, conducts the "Most Wired" survey annually. It focuses on how the nation's hospitals use information technologies for quality, customer service, public health and safety, business processes and workforce issues. This year, 556 hospitals and health systems (representing 1,327 hospitals) completed the survey. BroMenn was the only central Illinois hospital/health system recognized in the 2008 survey.
BroMenn was one of 25 organizations singled out as "Most Improved" -- noted for their score improvement since the previous year's survey. In the year between surveys, BroMenn has expanded its use of information technology to encompass bedside medication verification and improved electronic nursing documentation; scanning and archiving of medical records; a Picture Archiving & Communications System (PACS) for radiology and cardiology; speech recognition software for transcription/dictation; and the ability for physicians to gain access to multiple clinical computer applications with a single sign-on.
"Health information technology has shown incredible promise in helping us improve the quality and safety of the care hospitals deliver every day," said Rich Umbdenstock, president & CEO of the American Hospital Association.
